Authorcaravan
if faction is changed , will tg become easier?
^^ Depend on faction, faction level and your previous win/loss ratio at that faction.
19: i started from 8 too :)

maybe each time you level up the caravans get reset to their "default numbers for that level" and the amount of victories / losses in the past dont count for your new level

i haven't play TG since lvl 12, not for this reason i think

whats wrong with my caravans.. omg
Me too, I get almost lose in thief guild, but in fact there is one obvious problem that facing us.....
The caravan of DE is always low on atk and def, but their army just deal the almost same and take the almost same damage as mine, their no.of army make it tougher again........I think they have almost 3X or 4X army than us...:(
Changed to necro, DE then demons after update and demons have most easy
Strange, if it worked like before update, then as DE you would have most easy caravans;)
so, still no conclusion?
^^ #25: Actually there's significance level of change after update esp on PvP ambushing. For caravans, i remember right, demons always have most easy before update :)

Your faction is a factor in the size of the caravan. For some reason, wiz is supposedly the highest faction modifier and DE is the lowest. If you stay the same faction, the caravans will adjust since there is also a factor based on performance (against each caravan type), but if you switch to another faction, the caravan size might change a lot.

The exact modifiers is hard to derive, but I've heard these numbers mentioned and they seem to be about right from what I've experienced:

DE 100% (index value)
Demon 130%
Barb 140%
Necro 140%
Elf 160%
Knight 170%
Wizard 180%

Again, the actual faction modifiers are unconfirmed, so don't quote me on them. But I am pretty sure they exist. Also, this was before the update so I have no idea if caravans are still like this.
Interesting thread :)

The difference between the two caravans is huge indeed.

However, I have a logical answer, that at least partially explains the difference.

There is no such thing as "general caravan difficulty". There are currently 40 distinguishable caravan types in the game (according to http://www.witchhammer.ru/viewpage.php?page_id=26). For each type, the game stores your win/loss ratio (or something equivalent). Along with other factors (more on those later) the respective ratio determines the difficulty of your next caravan of any given type.

I used to play an elf before I reached faction level 9. The particular caravan type that you cited is one of the most difficult types for an elf. EFKs (the most important elven damage dealers in old-map-ambushes) only shine in crowds, they are quickly killed by big solitary stacks of high-tier or high-hp creatures. The caravan type in question often has giants/titans and huge stacks of golems/gargoyles. Those paired with the caster hero makes such caravans a pain for any elf. This is why that caravan had such "low" difficulty (imho): I didn'n win too much of that type before.

The "other factors" mentioned above:

- your combat level (I'm sure it matters)

- your TG level (I don't think it matters)

- your faction (it used to matter before the changes for sure, I don't have enough experience to say anything for sure about the current situation)

These factors are used by the server to determine an "intended difficulty level" for you. However, the "real" difficulty depends on other factors too:

- the variation of troops, present even within a given caravan type at a given difficulty level, can make two caravans (meant to be of the same difficulty) feel either easy or impossible. These variations:

a) interchangeable creatures:
- 1: several creature types, like orks<->cyclops, griffins<->cavalry, etc. are randomly interchanged in caravans, making them "feel" different
- 2: normal and upgraded creatures are interchangeable too

b) variations in troop number proportions: take for example the monk-farmer caravans. You can get them with lots of farmers in the "core" and fewer monks along the perimeter, or with lots of monks and less farmers.

ps: I would like to take this opportuniny to ask Arctic or anyone who has the relevant knowledge (no more guessing please, I've read enough of that), to give us some insight on the mechanisms that determine caravans's difficulty. I'm not asking for exact numbers or mathematical formulas, just for general principles. If you have that knowledge, please take your time and share with us what you are allowed to.
continued from #30 (exceeded the 3000 char limit...)

ps2: For aRU, to give you a more detailed picture: I have fought 81 ambushes since I switched to DE. Statistics so far: 74 caravans lost, 2 caravans won (you managed to pick one of them :), lost to 3 players, won against 2 players (one of them had 1 unit, the other travelled "naked" and I had quite a bit of luck). Not too shiny, I would say. But that's because I used almost full arts (no rings) plus 80% enchants when ambushing as an elf, and now I'm using ~min AP.

i have never ambushed a caravan as a demon.
now , if i change frm DE to demon , then is tg gonna be easier?
This topic is long since last update and considered obsolete for further discussions.
