Authorharder penalty for afk - why not?
I agree that bad connections ideally should not lead to penalties but these AFK's are damaging the game and to take Takesisters metaphor ...

If someone comes to late to work ones then that is fine but if someone comes to late to work every day and has a negative affect on my business then I will surely and quickly get rid of him!

The progressive penalty thing could work.
1st time = normal penatly and then for each additional AFK the penatly gets progressivelly higher until it hurts.
Should not be that hard to implement as is doesn't touch any of the core game rules.
Yea, i only got 1 afk for connection problems. Should be fine cause connection problems are usually not persistent.
I've noticed today that our mods even protect afk players. Players are punished for fighting with afk, like this one here:

It is obvious that shadowlasher attacked his teamate only because he was afk, because he died the next turn. So, if you are fighting with afk you even cant release your frustration in any way, e.g. call your afk teammate 'stupid afk', or attack him, because then you will be punished (thouhg it is normal human reaction after wasting 10 minutes staring at your computer). And the afk even gets rewarded, like this one in the above example got 0.1 hunt point and 13 skeletons for free.
It is impossible to impose a 'fair' or 'sliding scale' sort of automatic afk penalty.

The system is blind. AFK for a dc is seen the same as someone angry at their mates, and going afk to spite them, etc.

Without any admins doing anything on the server as well...don't count on them randomly popping into battles just to spectate. Wouldn't that be neat though if they did? It would be useful in levels 1-9 battles--that's for sure.
another idea about the afk problem and maybe the admins will write to me another mail to wrong topic. :p but i think there is the AFK topic plate and will try all ti found a good method to be resolve.

My question is
- if somebody from my team on PvsP combat is afk i am punished too because i loose that battle because of my afk partner. But i think will be a good thing to that problem. if somebody go afk from a team, the others team member to have increase their creature attack and defense with a point equivalence to the afk party creature. Sorry my bad English, i really don't know how to write OK, but i like this game very much and want to be resolve the afk problem. is like heroes 3 my favorite game. but if the others teams creature defense and attack will be increase. then the battle will be fair and the AFK will not decide the battle results. and those who go afk because they whant to win their friend from other team, will not go anymore on AFK< because they can't sabotage the battle anymore
the attack and defense to be increase in rapport to the afk died creature and the others creatures are become that strong that can faight without the handicap of the afk team member because their creature become stronger and the fight continue with the same power like the other member who was afk are continue to play. i don't know is somebody understand the idea. or if know a better idea to the afk problem
The other thing you would stop is players going afk as soon as they loose.
This happens just as often and is just as annoying!

Then why not when one goes afk for continuous 3 battles in a day, he be banned for a few hours or 1 forth coming day? He surely can enroll but ban from battles.

I think that there will not ever have a harder penalty for AFK. Imagine if you have some problem with your internet or some urgent things to do, how would you feel if you were penalized with a harder penalty?
Just report people that purposely go afk...they are being fined pretty harshly for repeat AFKs
