| Okay, I'll try to explain it simple, lets say you start with n-times your starting bet and want to double your money with the martingale method, so you have to win n-times without losing (lb(n) + 1)-times (binary logarithm of n) in a row. So as an example you have 1024 and your starting bet is 1, you go negative when you lose 11-times in a row before winning 1024-times. The probability that you lose 11-times is a bit less then 0.1%, but since you have to play it 1024-times the probability that it doesn't happen is 41.5%, so it is more likely that you go negative than not and this probability gets smaller the greater n is (due to the zeros), so if you want to double again it gets even more likely that you go negative and if you just play long enough you certainly go negative. |
